Ascension in the Moonlight

The theme of Winchester’s essay is about the experience that the author had a wonderful night in Moonlight in Ascension Island. Winchester went to a tiny beach with Paul and Angela in Ascension Island. They swum in the sea, ate delicious strawberries, cream, drunk cool white wine, saw white sand, Brazil turtle laying eggs, an eclipse of the moon, and swept-tailed comet.
“It was far too hot today, and there was no one about- just a few donkeys, now wild animals that plagued the island just like the feral cats the local people had tried to eliminate some years before.” Winchester used the feral cats as a metaphor in this sentence. He successfully described that there were almost no people on the road of Ascension Island.
“A huge dark shape was lumbering slowly out of the white water, and was heading, inching, up the beach.” This sentence can attract readers reading interest. Winchester first didn’t say what was the huge dark shape. Readers can be interested in what the huge dark shape was.
